Tuesday night's All-Star Game between the American League and the Pittsburgh Penguins will feature Baltimore's Corbin Burnes as the starting pitcher. In his debut season with the Orioles, 29-year-old right-hander Burnes has a 9-4 record and a 2.93 ERA. Burnes, the 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner, was acquired from Milwaukee just prior to spring training and is making his fourth All-Star appearance in a row. He'll be the fifth pitcher from the Orioles to start an All-Star Game, joining Steve Stone in that feat from 1980.

Right-hander Paul Skenes, 21, made his major league debut on May 11 and has since established himself. Skenes has a 6-0 record and a 1.90 ERA in 11 starts. In 66 1/3 innings, he has struck out 89 batters and only walked 13. He joins a rare club of rookie starters that includes Dave Stenhouse (1962), Mark Fidrych (1976), Fernando Valenzuela (1981), and Hideo Nomo (1995). His 11 starts are the fewest by an All-Star.
